Sharing the Joy of the Gospel - Day of Prayer for the New Evangelisation

Fr Mark Hogan would like to invite you to take part in a Diocesan day of prayer for the New Evangelisation (Sharing the Joy of the Gospel) from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 14th May, the eve of Pentecost at St. Joseph’s Church, Basingstoke (RG22 6TY).

It is vital that we begin with prayer and that all our efforts are sustained by prayer. All our initiatives must be rooted in our relationship with Jesus Christ, so that it is his will which we seek to discern and follow, and his joy which we experience for ourselves and share with others. How can you take part? In one of three main ways:

  • You can come along to St. Joseph’s, Basingstoke and join in with our celebrations there. We have a full timetable which includes the celebration of Mass, the recitation of the Rosary, hymns of praise, Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction. Prayer stations will also be available. There will also be a talk and a practical workshop taking place in the foyer at St. Joseph’s. Refreshments will be available throughout the day, with a light lunch. Just come along, to all of the day or just for a little while – no need to sign up.
  • If you are unable to travel to St. Joseph’s, there is still an opportunity for you to join in the prayer. Could you commit to praying for 30 minutes at some stage during the day for the Sharing of Gospel Joy in Portsmouth Diocese?
  • Or please just join us in prayer during that day in whatever way you can – even a simple Our Father or an Angelus or a decade of the Rosary would be something very powerful.
